I graduated from Queen's University, Belfast (QUB) in 1999 with honors. After completing specialist training in Clinical Immunology (includes allergy), I have been working as a consultant at the Regional Immunology Service (RIS) since 2011.
My practice covers the investigation and management of immunodeficiency (inborn errors of immunity), and allergic disease including food, drug, venom and inhaled allergens, and non allergic causes of urticaria (e.g. chronic spontaneous urticaria).
I am currently the specialty improvement lead for the RIS and led the clinical team to gain accreditation in Quality in Primary Immunodeficiency (www.QPIDS.org.uk) and Improving Quality in Allergy Services (www.iqas.org.uk). Both programs are delivered by the accreditation unit at the Royal College of Physicians. I am a member of the steering group committee for both QPIDS and IQAS.
I am Training Program Director for the two UK training pathways for Allergy and Immunology training (Allergy and Clinical Immunology [ACI], and Allergy, Clinical and Laboratory Immunology [ACLI]). I am an examiner for the FRCPath Immunology professional exam.
I prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials for Queens University Belfast medical students, and supervise medical student placements from both QUB and The University of Ulster.
I am a committee member of anaphylaxis UK and I am on the steering group of Clinical Immunology Pathology network (formerly UKPIN).
